About Marcel Koning
Marcel Koning was born in Emmen, The Netherlands on 5th of December 1969. Aged two, he emigrated to South Africa, dragging his parents along. He spent most of his childhood in Johannesburg, attended school and then later completed two years of military service as an army medic.
In 1990 Marcel moved back to the Netherlands and joined a family business to work as a flooring installer in Drenthe and Gelderland.
During this time he built up a good rapport with the folk at Carpetright (it was called Carpetland then).
After five years, his family persuaded him to return to South Africa, where he continued in the flooring business, working independantly and with his family. He also worked as a foreman for a building contractor.
Marcel is very experienced as an entrepreneur (it runs in the Koning blood).
After marrying Victoria in March 2001, they moved back to the Netherlands to form their own business.
Carpetland were delighted to see Marcel again and instantly agreed to continue their working relationship, which has been very beneficial to both parties.
Marcel works as a contractor for Carpetright in Zwolle and in Lelystad, but also does work for other Carpetright branches, as well as clients through Floorstyle.
Floorstyle.nl is the flooring website for Marvic VOF. It offers products and installation services and has photo galleries of completed jobs. Both Marcel and Victoria cut their teeth on this successful website, learning the ins-and-outs of business websites.
