Père David’s Deer

Père David’s Deer (Elaphurus davidianus) also known as Milu originate from China and were brought to the West by a French missionary called Father Armand David. Sadly this deer is now extinct in the wild, according to IUCN’s Red Data list from 2008, and only lives in captivity. There is a lovely nature park in Lelystad, which has a thriving herd of Pater Davidsherten, as they are called in Dutch. Père David’s Deer enjoy spending lots of time in the water and supplement their grass diet with water plants.

Aside from resizing and adding a watermark, we haved edited our photographs as little as possible to show them as they really are. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
